Crew

During university, it was required that students complete “crew credits”, little did I know it would spark an interest for production development within me. I began to seek mentorship in lighting, stage management and stage direction. My senior year I produced and directed two shows, and graduated into a position that married both production and performance. English Musicals Korea creates all original content for language learning. One of my favorite projects with EMK was The Carnival Crown. After co-writing the script with two of my colleagues, I pushed my creativity by assuming the role of set designer/builder, director, and actress. It was a fun challenge, and watching the students interact so positively to the show made it all worth it.

Set Design & Crew

At English Musicals Korea, I spent two shows immersed in Set. I started as an assistant for Goldilocks, and applied what I learned to The Carnival Crown, with a few modifications. For context, Goldilocks performed in only one location, the campus stage, whereas the Carnival crown was the touring show. Therefore, My focus and Adjustments for the Set design were to accommodate portability and adaptability. It was a challenge, but the set was able to fit over 100 schools, and lasted over twice as many performances. See the designs come to life in the video below.
